BKL-MACHINE exhibited at CHINAPLAS 2024 in Shanghai from 24 to 27 April. It was the ninth time the company has taken a stand at this show. Two machines ran on the stand for all four days: an SS600 single-shaft shredder and an ML85 compactor-extruder pelletizing line.

What Nine Years at One Show Changes
Attending the same exhibition nine times is not, by itself, an achievement worth a press release. What it changes is the nature of the conversations. In the first years, most of the floor time goes on explaining who you are, where the factory is, and whether you build the machines or resell them. By the ninth, a meaningful share of the people who stop at the stand have already bought something, or have been quoted before and want to see the machine they were quoted on.
That shifts what is worth putting on the stand. A first-time exhibitor brings the widest possible range, because the job is to be found at all. A ninth-time exhibitor brings the two machines that generate the most technical argument, because the job is to settle questions that cannot be settled over email. Both machines on the 2024 stand were chosen on that basis.

Why the SS600 Was Running, Not Just Standing
A shredder on a static display tells a buyer almost nothing. Torque, feed behaviour and how the machine handles an awkward piece are only visible when the rotor is turning. The SS600 single-shaft shredder ran throughout the show for that reason.
Single-shaft machines cover an unusually wide range of input: film and woven sacks at one end, thick PP and PE pipe, pallets, purging lumps and rigid housings at the other. That breadth is exactly what makes them hard to specify from a datasheet. Two buyers can read the same throughput figure and both be wrong about their own material, because the number assumes a bulk density neither of them has. Feeding a visitor’s own sample into a running machine resolves in thirty seconds what a specification sheet cannot resolve at all.
The size reduction stage also sets everything downstream. Flake size out of the shredder or crusher determines what the washing stage can lift away and what the extruder can swallow, which is why choosing a shredder is normally the first decision in a line rather than an afterthought.
The Feeding Problem the ML85 Exists to Solve
The second machine addressed a narrower and more specific problem. Light, bulky film does not feed into a conventional extruder at anything like the rate its weight suggests. It bridges above the throat, it traps air, and the screw spends much of its time turning in a partially empty barrel. The result is an extruder rated for a throughput it will never reach on that material.
The ML85 is a compactor and an extruder built as one unit. The compactor densifies the film before it reaches the screw, so the feed section sees a consistent bulk density instead of an intermittent one. The machines it replaces are a separate agglomerator plus a separate extruder, with a hopper and a conveyor between them and two places for the material to stall.
Applications on this pelletizing line are films and light fibrous scrap: LDPE, HDPE and LLDPE film, PP and CPP, BOPP, PA yarn, PET fabric. Anyone dealing with printed or contaminated film should read what contamination does to a film line before selecting a pelletizer, because the wash stage in front of it usually matters more than the extruder itself.

What Gets Asked at a Running Stand
The questions that arrive at a stand with live machines are different from the ones that arrive by email. Email questions are about price and delivery. Stand questions are about edge cases: what happens with a wet bale, whether a mixed load of pipe offcuts and crates can go through one machine, how the knives are changed and how often, what the machine sounds like under load.
None of those are answerable in writing with any credibility. All of them are answerable in a minute standing next to a machine that is running. That is the entire case for exhibiting rather than advertising, and it is why the two machines on the stand were the ones that provoke the most argument rather than the ones that photograph best.
